P&N Ph.D. student Jaime Castrellon was awarded Best Poster at the Society for Neuroeconomics Annual Meeting in Dublin, Ireland on October 4-6, 2019.
For two consecutive years, Castrellon’s posters have been selected and featured at the conference as Poster Spotlights: brief talks to the entire conference audience prior to the poster session. Each year Castrellon went on to win the Best Poster Award; he is the first conference presenter to receive the award twice.
Castrellon’s 2018 poster—which later became the cover article in the Journal of Neuroscience—examined whether people who are high in dopamine function are biased toward making riskier, more short-sighted, or easier decisions. This year, Castrellon’s poster examined how individual differences in human dopamine function are related to resisting temptations in everyday life.
Castrellon’s travel to the 2019 conference was funded by a graduate student travel award from the Charles Lafitte Foundation Program in Psychological and Neuroscience Research at Duke University. Jaime is also supported by a Graduate Research Fellowship from the National Science Foundation.
